Long live WebAssembly!\u201c bei meinem ehemaligen Kollegen Jonas Kruckenberg gebucht. Mit Jonas habe ich bei Mainmatter die Redis Search Extension nach Rust portiert. Jonas ist auch in der Rust Dortmund Community bestens bekannt, da er sein auf WebAssembly basierendes Betriebssystem k23 bereits bei unserer allerersten Veranstaltung <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/v4HofvYXTo0\">vorgestellt hat<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Warum sollte man sich mit WebAssembly besch\u00e4ftigen? Auf Edge-Ger\u00e4ten \u2013 etwa im Automotive-Bereich \u2013 verbessert es durch Sandboxing die Sicherheit und erm\u00f6glicht Entwicklern, Module in unterschiedlichen Sprachen zu schreiben. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Christof Petig, der sich intensiv mit sicherheitskritischen Bereichen im Automotive-Sektor besch\u00e4ftigt, hielt f\u00fcr unsere Rust-Dortmund-Community einen <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/qsfBN3MpIQw\">Vortrag <\/a>zur Nutzung von WebAssembly in Fahrzeugen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Zusammengefasst: WebAssembly stellt eine moderne, sprachunabh\u00e4ngige, sichere und hochperformante Alternative zu fr\u00fcheren Komponentenmodellen wie COM oder CORBA dar und erm\u00f6glicht breitere Interoperabilit\u00e4t, indem es eine Bytecode-Zwischensprache verwendet, die die meisten WebAssembly-Runtimes just-in-time in nativen Binaries kompilieren k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Konferenz Tag \u2013 Der \u00dcberraschungs-Aha-Effekt<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Die Konferenz war \u00e4u\u00dferst unterhaltsam. Ich hatte viele gute Gespr\u00e4che und traf alte Bekannte. Dennoch m\u00f6chte ich mich auf meinen \u00fcberraschenden Aha-Moment im Bereich Mutation Testing konzentrieren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Das Grundprinzip des Mutation Testing besteht darin, das Programm zu mutieren. Beispielsweise ersetzt man den Plus-Operator durch einen Minus-Operator oder vertauscht Bedingungen in einem if-else-if-else-Block. Anschlie\u00dfend erwartet man, dass die Test-Suite fehlschl\u00e4gt. Schl\u00e4gt sie nicht fehl, sollte man vermutlich einen weiteren Test hinzuf\u00fcgen, der diesen Fall abdeckt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Die Herausforderung bei nativen Programmen liegt darin, dass jede Mutation eine Neukompilierung erfordert \u2013 und das ist qu\u00e4lend langsam. PhD-Student Zal\u00e1n L\u00e9vai arbeitet jedoch an <a href=\"https:\/\/mutest.rs\/\">mutest-rs<\/a>, einem Rust-Crate, das den Compiler rustc als Bibliothek nutzt und den AST im Speicher ver\u00e4ndert. Dadurch sinkt die Anzahl erforderlicher Kompilierungen erheblich, was es im Vergleich deutlich schneller macht. Und f\u00fcr diejenigen, die es noch nicht wussten: Die Rust London Community \u2013 insbesondere ihre Organisatoren \u2013 hat mich seinerzeit zur Gr\u00fcndung des Rust Dortmund Meetups inspiriert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">After-Konferenz  \u2013 Rust in einer Welt mit KI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Am Tag nach der Konferenz trafen wir uns, um \u00fcber Rust in einer von KI gepr\u00e4gten Welt zu sprechen. Dieses Thema verdient jedoch ein eigenes ausf\u00fchrliches Posting. Daf\u00fcr gibt es zwei Gr\u00fcnde:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In der Woche nach Rust Nation besuche ich die \u201eInstandhaltungstage\u201c sowie das Impulse-Event f\u00fcr junge Fachkr\u00e4fte in der chemischen Industrie. Dort plane ich, zahlreiche KI-bezogene Vortr\u00e4ge zu besuchen, um ein besseres Verst\u00e4ndnis davon zu gewinnen, was KI derzeit in diesem Bereich bedeutet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">W\u00e4hrend KI Softwareentwickler keineswegs vollst\u00e4ndig ersetzen wird, schreiten agentische Systeme rasant voran \u2013 und viele Entwickler untersch\u00e4tzen derzeit deren Potenzial. Wichtig ist zudem: Erkenntnisse aus agentischem Programmieren werden voraussichtlich zu deutlich besseren Werkzeugen auch in anderen Branchen f\u00fchren.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Zusammenfassend hat die Rust Nation UK 2026 die rasante Reifung von Rust in Bereichen wie WebAssembly, Testing-Tools und aufkommender KI-Integration unterstrichen \u2013 Entwicklungen, die f\u00fcr technische F\u00fchrungskr\u00e4fte genau im Auge zu behalten sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>",
