Vielleicht schreibe ich eines Tages einen separaten Post \u00fcber meinen Vortrag &#8220;Let&#8217;s Get Interdisciplinary: Rust Design Patterns for Chemical Plants&#8221;. Es gibt bereits gutes Material auf YouTube und GitHub, schaut gerne rein:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R6QpajjgNrQ&amp;t=22s\">Raw Video on Youtube Livestream<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/DarthB\/rust-design-patterns-2024\">Github Code with short Summary<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In diesem Blogbeitrag m\u00f6chte ich einen \u00dcberblick \u00fcber die gro\u00dfartige Konferenz RustNation UK24 geben, die kurz vor Ostern in London stattgefunden hat. Dieser Beitrag hebt interessante Entwicklungen f\u00fcr Ingenieure aus anderen Disziplinen hervor, z. B. aus der Forschung oder f\u00fcr diejenigen, die in einem der vielen Ingenieurslastigen und softwarenahen Abteilungen in der Industrie arbeiten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Du wunderst dich, warum dass f\u00fcr Ingenieure interessant sein soll? Schau mal in den Artikel: <a href=\"https:\/\/janus.rs\/de\/2023\/12\/why-learning-rust-is-worthwhile-for-engineers\/\">Warum lohnt es sich als Ingenieur Rust zu Lernen?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Was ist RustNation UK 2024?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>RustNation ist Konferenz mit mehreren Vortragstracks. Sie ist recht breit angelegt und bietet dennoch viele technisch tiefgehende Vortr\u00e4ge. Das breite Zielpublikum ist ein Nebeneffekt der St\u00e4rke von Rust als Mehrzwecksprache auf Systemebene, und das ist der Grund, warum die Rust-Gemeinschaft von Natur aus ziemlich disziplin\u00fcbergreifend ist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interdisziplin\u00e4r von Natur aus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Rust erfindet die Art und Weise, wie wir eingebettete und Systemprogrammierung sicher, zuverl\u00e4ssig und leistungsf\u00e4hig durchf\u00fchren, neu. F\u00fcr sicherheitskritische Software kann man eine Toolchain namens <a href=\"https:\/\/ferrous-systems.com\/ferrocene\/\">Ferrocene<\/a> verwenden, die von Ferrous Systems und dem T\u00dcV S\u00fcd f\u00fcr mehrere Standards qualifiziert wurde. Dies macht das Schreiben von sicherheitskritischer Software, die eine Zertifizierung ben\u00f6tigt, schneller, unterhaltsamer und vor allem wesentlich erschwinglicher. Dar\u00fcber hinaus hat sich ein riesiges \u00d6kosystem f\u00fcr die Web-Backend-Entwicklung entwickelt, und dar\u00fcber hinaus bietet das Rust-\u00d6kosystem L\u00f6sungen f\u00fcr Web-Frontends (<a href=\"https:\/\/leptos.dev\/\">Leptos<\/a>) und die Entwicklung von Multi-Plattform-Anwendungen (<a href=\"https:\/\/tauri.app\/\">Tauri<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fokus auch auf Konzerne au\u00dferhalb von Big-Tech<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein Schwerpunkt der Konferenz liegt auf der Anwendung von Rust in Unternehmen, und so war es nicht verwunderlich, dass auch Vortr\u00e4gen aus der Automobilindustrie, der Luft- und Raumfahrt und der Chemietechnik neben Vortr\u00e4gem von Google, Facebook und anderen gro\u00dfen Technologieunternehmen auf dem Programm standen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">H\u00f6hepunkte von Rust Nation UK 2024 f\u00fcr Ingenieure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nun m\u00f6chte ich erz\u00e4hlen, was meiner Meinung nach auch f\u00fcr Ingenieure aus anderen Bereichen neben der Softwareentwicklung sehr n\u00fctzlich war:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Typed for Safety: Eine Rust-Gemeinschaft f\u00fcr die Luft- und Raumfahrttechnik<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In dem Vortrag &#8220;Typed for Safety&#8221; zeigte Lachezar Lechev, wie die Generics und das Typsystem von Rust den Verlust eines NASA Mars Climate Orbiter h\u00e4tten verhindern k\u00f6nnen. Der Verlust trat aufgrund von Problemen beim Umrechnnen von Einheiten zwischen zwei gelieferten Modulen auf. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lw62M9FKxZU&amp;t=4906s\">Siehe das Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Was ist Ferrocene? Ein 1-st\u00fcndiger interaktiver Workshop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;What is Ferrocene A 1-hour interactive Workshop&#8221; war ein gro\u00dfartiger Workshop, der von Jonathan Pallant von <a href=\"https:\/\/ferrous-systems.com\/\">Ferrous Systems<\/a> gehalten wurde. Er zeigte, wie Code geschrieben werden kann, der nicht von der Rust-Standardbibliothek abh\u00e4ngt und mit Hilfe der SIL-D-zertifizierten Compiler-Toolchain Ferrocene auf einem Bare-Metal-Ger\u00e4t eingesetzt werden kann. W\u00e4hrend des Workshops haben wir die Funktionalit\u00e4t des println!-Makros mit der Core Library zum Laufen gebracht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Erste Schritte mit PyO3<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich kenne viele Ingenieure, die Python als ihre bevorzugte Sprache verwenden. Einige von ihnen sto\u00dfen auf Leistungsengp\u00e4sse, weil Python langsam ist. Viele weit verbreitete Python-Module, z. B. f\u00fcr maschinelles Lernen, sind deshalb in nativen Sprachen geschrieben. Und mit PyO3 kann man leistungskritischen Code in Rust implementieren und diesen einfach \u00fcber ein FFI (Foreign Function Interface) offenlegen und aufrufen. Es war gro\u00dfartig, die Gelegenheit zu haben, an dem Tutorial im Rahmen der RustNation teilzunehmen. Ein Open-Source-H\u00f6rger\u00e4t in Rust<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ein sehr inspirierendes Projekt wurde von David Haig vorgestellt. David hat weder einen Hintergrund in Informatik noch in Elektrotechnik. Trotzdem hat er sich der Herausforderung gestellt, ein H\u00f6rger\u00e4t zu entwickeln. Er entwarf die Hardware und implementierte dann die Software mit Embedded Rust. Das starke: Es ist ziemlich energieeffizient! Aber warum schaut ihr nicht selbst in das <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PsUaI46S2js&amp;t=12723s\">Video?<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Full Stack Rust &#8211; Erstellen von Rust-Websites mit Leptos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sie fragen sich vielleicht, warum ein Ingenieur tief in Webtechnologien eintauchen sollte? Das Sch\u00f6ne an Web-Frontend-Technologien ist, dass sie nicht nur f\u00fcr Websites, sondern auch f\u00fcr viele Desktop-Anwendungen eingesetzt werden, die wir t\u00e4glich nutzen, wie Discord, MS Teams, Visual Code und Obsidian. Einen tieferen Einblick in das leistungsstarke Leptos-Framework bietet dieser aufschlussreiche <a href=\"https:\/\/benw.is\/posts\/full-stack-rust-with-leptos\">Blog Post<\/a>. Ich erw\u00e4hne dies, weil ich f\u00fcr die kommende Staffel von <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_phBAnY8vkM\">Pragmatic Rust for Engineers<\/a> einen Wechsel von VanillaJS zu einem fortschrittlicheren Frontend-Framework in Erw\u00e4gung ziehe, und Ben Wishovichs Framework hat eindeutig meine Aufmerksamkeit erregt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meine pers\u00f6nlichen Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Das Sch\u00f6nste an der Teilnahme an Rust-Konferenzen ist f\u00fcr mich die M\u00f6glichkeit, so viele unglaublich coole Menschen zu treffen, die f\u00fcr etwas brennen. Das ist immer eine fantastische Erfahrung. Diesmal traf ich die Cole-Br\u00fcder David und James wieder, die Rust nutzen, um soziale Medien von Spam und Toxizit\u00e4t zu befreien. Wie immer fand ich beim Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck und beim Abendessen Zeit f\u00fcr interessante Face2Face Gespr\u00e4che, und ich traf auch zahlreiche Teilnehmer auf dem Konferenzgel\u00e4nde. Aber es gibt ein besonderes Highlight:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ich habe endlich die Rust und C++ Dragons pers\u00f6nlich getroffen: Ciara, Alex, Christopher und Michael, die alle regelm\u00e4\u00dfig an unseren Online Meetups teilnehmen, waren ebenfalls auf der RustNation und es scheint, dass wir m\u00f6glicherweise einen neuen Drachen in unseren Reihen haben &#8211; Vladimir.
